Michigan Hockey Tops Mavericks

Puckhead has his always thorough recap of the game up at his Michigan Hockey page. The Wolverines overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the University of Nebraska-Omaha 6-4. Kevin Porter came up big for Michigan, getting things started with the first goal for Michigan on his way to getting the hat trick:
Michigan would close that gap and breath some life into their game with just over four minutes to go when Hensick made a great defensive play in the Michigan end to take control of the puck and break out of the zone, flying up the right side boards. Hensick continued down the ice, into the Maverick zone, and toward the Maverick goal, making a last second pass over to Porter as they got in close. Porter wasted no time in banging the puck into the back of the net for the first of his three goals. Hensick got the lone assist on the goal.
The MGoBlue hockey page also has a nice recap, including this blurb on the game-winning goal:
The Maize and Blue took a lead it would not relinquish at 13:58. [David] Rohlfs muscled the puck out a scrum behind the net, finding [TJ] Hensick at the goal line. Hensick laced the puck to Porter in the slot. Porter’s one-timer fooled [Maverick goaltender Jerad] Kaufmann, giving the Wolverines the 5-4 lead. The goal was the junior’s third marker of the game, and his team-leading 10th of the season.
Michigan is currently in a 3-way tie for fifth place in the CCHA. But they are only two points behind leauge-leading Miami and Alaska. They’ve had one really bad loss in an October 28th game against Northeastern but have otherwise played well. Both of their conference losses have been to top-10 ranked teams. They split those series against Miami and Michigan State.
