Wings great Marcel Pronovost still in the Game
The Windsor Star has a good article on former Wings defenseman Marcel Pronovost. He has lived in Windsor since his days in the minors, only leaving briefly when he was traded from Detroit to Toronto. He is currently a scout for the New Jersey Devils. Pronovost won Stanley Cups as a player in Detroit in 1949-50, 1951-51, 1952-53 and 1954-55. He was also on Toronto’s 1966-67 Cup-winning team. He was a scout for the Devils when they won their three Stanley Cups in 1995, 2000 and 2003.
Marcel tells some great stories in this article, including the circumstances that brought him into the Detroit lineup during the 1949-50 season when Gordie Howe suffered a serious head injury when being checked into the boards during a playoff game.

At the time it was feared the injury could have been fatal. Howe obviously recovered and this picture is one of the more famous pictures of his recovery:

Pronovost also has a great story about how his father was a Canadiens fan but switched his allegiances when his son played for Detroit. His father had an interesting response when he found out Marcel was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Gordie Howe Marcel Pronovost Red Wings
