A Couple Wings cheer Bears onto Super Bowl

It’s time to crown the Chicago Bears NFC champs. Let’s let Dennis Green do the honors, shall we?

Thanks Dennis. Bang up job there. At any rate, a couple Red Wings who are Chicago natives were on hand to witness Chicago’s 39-14 manhandling of the Saints. Helene St. James has the details in her article on what Red Wings players will do during the All Star break.

Chris Chelios and Brett Lebda both plan to head back home to Chicago today to watch the Bears in the NFC Championship game.

“Going to the Bears game and freeze my butt off,” Lebda said. “I think I might go with (Chelios) and sit there and cheer the hometown on.” Lebda said he used to go to Bears games as a child and saw the new Soldier Field during the lockout.

Speaking of Lebda, doesn’t he look a little bit like Artie Lange from the Howard Stern show?

Artie LangeBrett Lebda

Well, an athletic, svelte Artie Lange who doesn’t have a fan website that monitors his “imminent demise”.

All kidding aside, I can certainly understand cheering on the hometown team even though your profession takes you to another city. Cheli has a pretty good setup as he gets to cheer on his White Sox, Bulls and Bears while playing for the Wings and having a bar within spitting distance of Comerica Park. Well, I can’t really identify with that part about having your NFL team make it to two Super Bowls in your lifetime.
