One Final All Star Recollection

The All Star break officially ends tonight, but I found a You Tube highlight on a particular All Star moment I wanted to write about. The Chicago Blackhawks have hit rock bottom, but they do have one of the great moments of fan participation in All Star history. Shortly after the start of the first Gulf War in 1991 the All Star game was held in Chicago. The crowd displayed their support during the national anthem by cheering wildly during the playing of the national anthem. And no, it wasn’t just at the start - they cheered the whole way through.

Chicago maintained the tradition but it obviously dropped off as the crowds got thinner and thinner. That can’t take away from what a powerful display this was.
