Chris Osgood out with Broken Finger

Chris Osgood has had a tough return to Detroit. Since signing with the team prior to last season he has suffered numerous injuries. The most recent one happened in warmups prior to last night’s game. Dominik Hasek was out with the flu, so Osgood had to soldier on and play with the broken finger.

Bruce Macleod from the Macomb Daily tallies up the current state of the netminder corps over at the Red Wings Central message board:

– Osgood has a broken finger on his blocker hand. It happened during the pregame warmup in St. Louis Friday, but he played with it. His status is to be determined.
– Hasek was well enough (flu) to practice Saturday. He’ll start Sunday afternoon if he remains OK.
– Joey MacDonald has the flu now, but he practiced Saturday as well. For those of you scoring at home, that’s all three goalies with question marks for Sunday.

Jimmy Howard is also on the mend with in an injured ankle. Hopefully Hasek is sufficiently recovered from the flu to play against the Avs tomorrow. It looks like both Lang and Draper will be good to go. Macleod reports that Matt Ellis and Matt Hussey were both sent back to Grand Rapids.
