Lidstrom deserves Hart Consideration

Kevin Allen at USA Today has an article that makes the case for defenseman Nick Lidstrom to be considered for the Hart Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s most valuable player. If Sid Crosby continues on his tear through the league he is likely to win the award.

I agree with Allen’s take on Lidstrom’s game against the Islanders earlier this week. I really felt like it was a performance where he took over a game just like you saw Steve Yzerman do so often. That’s why I said I thought Lidstrom really earned his stripes. It wasn’t so much that he had anything to prove; it was simply another great performance that you have come to expect over the years from the guy with the winged wheel jersey who also wears the captain’s C.
