More on Hasek’s Double Duty

Helene St. James at the Freep has an article on the plan to start playing Dominik Hasek on back to back nights.

Hasek estimated he would play in about 15 more games overall; 21 remain in the regular season. He and the team have avoided having him play consecutive nights because of concern for his groin, which has cost him finishing his previous two seasons. But thanks to an encompassing warm-up program, Hasek has had no problems with his groin, and he needed to sit out only two games this month with a twinge of tendinitis in his right wrist.

“Physically, I feel great,” he said, then stopped to knock on a piece of wood. “OK. I never feel better. I had some problems with the wrist, but it’s gone and I feel as well as I felt 2-3 months ago and in great shape. The groin was biggest question because of what happened in the past, but no problems at this point.”

It doesn’t sound like Hasek will play Friday and Saturday night, but he could play both back to back sets of games next month (March 13-14 and March 29-30). If that is the case it will be interesting to see if Chris Osgood gets the start against Edmonton on Friday and Hasek starts on Saturday against Nashville.
