Zetterberg out of lineup for 2-3 Weeks
As quickly as the Red Wings can add players they are losing them to injury. Henrik Zetterberg was only supposed to be out of the lineup last night. But Helene St. James reports that his back is in worse condition than was originally diagnosed. So Detroit will be very careful and keep him out of the lineup until they are comfortable with his condition. The following quote is from Red Wings general manager Ken Holland:
“It’s nothing significant, but the doctors feel he should take seven to 10 days of rest, and the hope is the inflammation goes down. Then we’re slowly going to bring him back. We estimate he’ll be out of the lineup two to three weeks.”
Considering Detroit’s next game is against Chicago I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Wings use the same top two lines they used last night. The timetable means Zetterberg will likely miss a March 6th game against Nashville. Depending on his recovery he could also miss back to back games on March 13th and 14th against the Predators. It has been reported that Dominik Hasek would play in net on both nights.
