Wings Take on Blackhawks Tonight
Matt over at On the Wings has his Gameday post up. Unfortunately it looks like Martin Havlat will miss tonight’s game as well:
Martin Havlat returned to the ice last night after missing the game Tuesday due to the flu. According to head coach Denis Savard, via the Chicago Sun-Times, he’s lost 10 pounds since becoming sick on Monday. He played on an empty stomach against the Avs and spent much of the game bent over on the bench, missing the final 8 minutes. The paper reports that his status is in doubt for tonight. (I would think so! Wow.)
Hockey’s Future has their Red Wings Gameday thread up. They always include a lot of great stats. Let’s Go Wings also has their excellent Gameday thread up on their message board.
NHL.com has a nice story on former Red Wings goaltender Joey MacDonald. The netminder finds parallels between being a race car driver and a goaltender:
“You could blow a race with just a blink of an eye,” MacDonald said. “Things can be going well and then the next thing you know, you’re out of the race. It’s almost like my job. As a goaltender, everybody looks on you to make the big saves and you can pretty well win or break a game. Racers and goaltenders can win and they can lose you one, too.”
Hopefully Joey Mac can get some more ice time in Boston. Brian Cazaneuve at Sports Illustrated takes a look at how the Western Conference stacks up following the trade deadline. Bruce MacLeod of the Macomb Daily has a good article on Chris Chelios and Todd Bertuzzi’s first meeting after Bert joined the team.
