Vancouver 4, Detroit 1
I missed last night’s game due to the St. Patrick’s revelry but it doesn’t sound like I missed much. The Wings gave up 38 shots on goal and allowed a short-handed goal that provided the Canucks with a 2-goal lead late in the second period.
Nicklas Lidstrom and Mathieu Schneider both had rough nights, with Lidstrom going -4 and Schneider going -3. Rory Fitzpatrick registered an assist so maybe that will make up for Nick Lidstrom stealing a spot on the All Star team from the third pairing journeyman.
So I’ve got nothing as far as recaps go. Kuklas Korner did a liveblog which has plenty of entertaining coverage.
Matt over at On the Wings has a bit of a game recap as he missed the first period. He also comments on the Nashville-Dallas game. Sounds like Jordin Tootoo is making quite a name for himself. It’s clear Tootoo has no respect for the game, and I think he will probably get what he just dished out. It probably won’t be too long before he is carted off the ice after a similar incident.
Christy continues the trend of Red Wings bloggers who missed most of the game but has some commentary and also has an update on the Plymouth Whalers, an OHL minor-league hockey team she interns for.
She also included this You Tube video of JMFJ which is just awesome.
Brian at MGoBlog also has the latest pairwise information and guesses on where Michigan will play during the NCAA tournament. Grand Rapids seems like a distinct possibility but the odds are long on the Wolverines making a trip to the Frozen Four. If you are into following the process as far as how hot dogs are made (so to speak) you can read Jayson Moy’s column over at USCHO. His prognostication has Michigan playing in the West regional bracket in Denver. Here is how that bracket looks according to him:
West Regional:
Air Force vs. Minnesota
North Dakota vs. Michigan
The selection show will be at 2:30 eastern time on ESPN2. JMFJ Michigan Hockey NCAA Hockey Bracketology Red Wings
