Bertuzzi set to play today
Ted Kulfan over at the Detroit News reports that Todd Bertuzzi is expected to play today.
Nicklas Lidstrom (sore lower back) and Todd Bertuzzi (neck strain) are likely to play in today’s regular-season finale against the Blackhawks.
I’m not really concerned about Lidstrom as I suspect the Wings are freshening him up in preparation for him logging 30+ minutes per game during the playoffs. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he doesn’t play today.
Bert isn’t the only person to regret a run-in with a Red Wings goalie
However Bertuzzi is just starting to show small signs of rounding back into form. He needs to play today so long as he isn’t feeling any ill effects from getting owned by Chris Osgood. Well, other than the ill effects of being nauseous from the fact that Osgood got the better of him in that collision on Thursday night.
UPDATE: Christy at MVN reports that Bertuzzi is not playing today due to a poor showing on a baseline test. But it sounds like he could be cleared to play for the first game of the playoffs.
The Wings clearly do not need him since they are up 3-0 with lots of time left in the first period.
