[...] Given that Ken Kal was correct when he suggested that Bertuzzi would start on the fourth line in Game 3 then his suggestion that Kyle Calder could be scratched could happen in Game 5 to make room for Hudler. Here is how the lines would look: Henrik Zetterberg - Pavel Datsyuk - Tomas Holmstrom Johan Franzen - Robert Lang - Todd Bertuzzi Dan Clearly - Kris Draper - Kirk Maltby Mikael Samuelsson - Valtteri Filppula - Jiri Hudler Hudler had 2 assists and was +2 in Detroit so it’s easy to make the case that he should be re-inserted into the lineup. Samuelsson has been better than Calder at generating shots on goal and has played the point on the second power play unit, so it would seen that he’s more likely to stay in the lineup tomorrow.
[...] Update (9:50 PM): Via Gorilla Crouch: Bertuzzi is in, Hudler is out. That’s a shame for Jiri. He’s had a heck of a series so far. I don’t agree with Babcock’s judgment here, as the team is going to miss what Jiri can bring to the game. Mikael Samuelsson has shown little thus far and I think he had better have a whale of a game tonight or else he ought to be riding the pine instead of Huds on Thursday. I’d hate to see Jiri have to sit for the rest of the playoffs, so hopefully they’ll institute some kind of rotation. - Matt [...]
