Hudler could make return to lineup tomorrow

At the end of this article from the Hockey News it is suggested Jiri Hudler could play after being scratched in Games 3 and 4.

Babcock did not say what lineup changes, if any, he planned to make Saturday. But Mikael Samuelsson or Kyle Calder could be scratched to get Jiri Hudler back on the ice.

Given that Ken Kal was correct when he suggested that Bertuzzi would start on the fourth line in Game 3 then his suggestion that Kyle Calder could be scratched could happen in Game 5 to make room for Hudler. Here is how the lines would look:

Henrik Zetterberg - Pavel Datsyuk - Tomas Holmstrom
Johan Franzen - Robert Lang - Todd Bertuzzi
Dan Clearly - Kris Draper - Kirk Maltby
Mikael Samuelsson - Valtteri Filppula - Jiri Hudler

Hudler had 2 assists and was +2 in Detroit so it’s easy to make the case that he should be re-inserted into the lineup. Samuelsson has been better than Calder at generating shots on goal and has played the point on the second power play unit, so it would seen that he’s more likely to stay in the lineup tomorrow.

I would love to see Hudler back, but I want Samuelsson out. I know he plays on the point of the PP, but our PP isn’t work so perhaps we should change it up?

    Christy,

Bruce MacLeod has an interesting post over at his blog, not only suggesting that Hudler could play but that Hank could center his own line.

I’m not sure how likely that is to happen, but imagine if Hank centered the Mule and Bert? Pretty intriguing…
