Blogger coverage of the WCF
Scott over at Quo Vadimus kicks things off with his preview of the Western Conference Finals. He has a solid writeup on the contest so it is definitely worth your time to stop by and give it a read.
Christy, as usual, has some excellent content up over at Behind the Jersey. She made a bet with Mike Chen and won, so her prize was that she got to write this article over at his blog. She was 10 when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup following the 1996-97 season. Thanks for making me feel old Christy! She has a mini Behind the Jersey article on Chris Chelios that is a great read and she also follows up on a topic she has done a great job covering: the Red Wings’ competition for attention in a very crowded [and successful] Detroit sports landscape.
No Pun Inteded has a great feature - taking a look at how each Red Wings player’s beard is progressing. The post includes several pictures of each player’s scruffiness. Lidstrom looks like a Shakespearean actor while Dan Cleary looks like he just emerged from a month-long camping trip. Brett Ledba has a bit of a Jeff Tweedy beard going on:

Bruce MacLeod over at Red Wings Corner takes a look at the goals per 60 minutes played for the Red Wings. He has been the best beat writer as far as providing this type of data on the team.
As far as Anaheim bloggers go, the Battle of California has a good two-part take on the series on what to be cautiously optimistic about and pessimistic about in the upcoming series. It’s a really solid perspective and is definitely worth your time to check out both perspectives.
On the Pond comments on the long layoff the Ducks have faced since they finished off Vancouver in round two. Karen at OTP also includes the bulletin board material the Ducks are using to prepare for game one. It isn’t incendiary as it focuses more on what Anaheim’s players need to do to be prepared for Game One on Friday night.
Girl with a Puck gets her snark on by detailing how having the Ducks play the Red Wings causes some apprehension. The big question for Detroit fans is which Chris Pronger will the see in the upcoming series: the one who couldn’t get past Detroit when he played in St. Louis, or the one who was a major force in Edmonton’s first round defeat of the Red Wings last Spring? My guess is last year wasn’t an abberation.
Anaheim Duck Fan has a good post on the impending matchup, including why I think Pronger will have an impact closer to the one he had when he was with Edmonton.
Chris Progner - has been amazing, not only on the blue line and PK, but has scored as well. Pronger has 11 points in 10 playoff games. He is a plus-4 and averages over 30 minutes per game.
Yep, he’s tied with Pavel Datsyuk, even though the Ducks have played two fewer games. Meanwhile Ducks Blog takes a look at some of the things the Red Wings can do to have success against Anaheim. It’s a good article that includes a picture of the Sports Illustrated cover from the Steve Yzerman commemorative edition that the Red Wings bloggers are giving to the third place winner in our Stanley Cup contest. Dan asks the same question Calgary Flames fans and San Jose Sharks fans asked - can Detroit handle the physical play they are going to go up against when they play the Ducks?

I never thought about the whole Calgary/San Jose physical play angle against Detroit, smack in the face, duh! But I don’t think anyone will say that Calgary or San Jose forecheck or are as physical as Anaheim. Can’t wait until Friday!
Dan,
That’s a good point, but you also have to understand that the Red Wings have heard that every round so far. We’ll see how it works out!
