Some Good NHL Press
As a hockey fan you might have thought there were only two kinds of press: no press and bad press. So it was nice to hear John Feinstein talk on NPR about how great the NHL Playoffs have been this year.
He was on the air to talk specifically about the NBA Playoffs and how both Detroit and San Antonio are the prohibitive favorites to meet in the NBA Finals. But at the end of the segment he talked about how great the playoffs have been and in particular about how exciting overtime is with it being sudden death. He said he wasn’t trying to be a shill for the sport but that the Finals matchup between Anaheim and Ottawa should be a good one as neither team has won a Stanley Cup.
If a Stanley Cup Finals game is on NBC and goes to overtime, hopefully the network will be able to actually show the entire game. It would be the worst possible outcome for the NHL if the Cup was won in overtime but not before the game had been taken off the air to show a re-run of the hit TV show Joey.
