If you visited during the hockey season you might recall I was very critical of the Vote for Rory campaign. The main reason why was because it would have denied Nick Lidstrom a spot in the All Star game. Nick missing one All Star game wouldn’t have been a big deal; my criticism was entirely due to the fact Rory Fitzpatrick was completely undeserving of taking his place. The entire campaign was a bad joke and I lampooned it from time to time.
Fortunately common sense prevailed and Lidstrom played in the All Star game. Scott Warheit, the blogger behind the Cutoff Man blog and his personal Quo Vadimus blog, contacted me about making the case amongst Detroit sports bloggers for 2nd baseman Placido Polanco to be voted into the All Star game. The totally evil completely lame New York Yankees’ 2nd baseman Robinson Cano is currently the leading votegetter. It’s time to end that crap right now!
This is a campaign that’s easy to get behind because Polanco actually merits being voted into the game. Ever since the trade that brought him to the Tigers [Phillies fans probably have a different take on the trade right now], Polanco has helped set the team ablaze, not other people.
Scott has all the basic stats to support Polanco’s case in this post. Here are the highlights:

Cano is highly overrated by the fans due to wearing the Yankee pinstripes. Sure, vote for A-Rod at third as he’s clearly worthy. Cano isn’t but he’s about to go to the All Star game simply because he’s a New York Yankee. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Here’s what you can do: GO TO THE POLLS FOR POLANCO. It’s really simple. Just follow this link and vote for him. You can vote a total of 25 times so do whatever you feel like doing as far as how often you vote.
