Reminder: Vote for Polly

Don't piss the cat off. It's a Ninja cat and will flip out and kill people. So vote for Polly.

Placido Polanco is making some headway in the All Star balloting. As of June 12 he had pulled ahead of Robinson Cano to become the leading vote-getter amongst American League second basemen. But he only held a narrow 52,000 vote lead. So make sure you go to the MLB All Star game online ballot and VOTE FOR POLLY.

You can vote 25 times, so if you’ve only voted 10 times so far head back and throw down another 10-15 votes. If you haven’t voted yet then now’s a great time to vote 5-10 times. So vote now! The next update will be on Monday, June 18 so hopefully Polanco will have a lead by a couple hundred thousand votes.

Here is where other Tigers stood in balloting as of June 12.

Magglio Ordonez - 4th place at about 133,000 votes behind Ichiro Suzuki. Normally I’d suggest Ichiro is worthy but Maggs has been on a mission this season, hitting .367, with a .440 OBP, .658 slugging percentage and is on pace to drive in 160 runs! Dude deserves a spot on the All Star team. Sure, Jim Leyland will probably put him on the squad if he doesn’t get voted in, but Ordonez deserves to get voted onto the team. Gary Sheffield isn’t really in the mix right now as he’s 360,000 votes back from 3rd place.

Sean Casey - 4th place at about 700,000 votes behind Big Papi. Ortiz deserves to get voted onto the squad.

Carlos Guillen - 2nd place at about 700,000 votes behind Jeter. Guillen has been injured which isn’t going to help his campaign at all. But he is competitive with better power numbers than Jeter: his slugging percentage is .076 points higher, he has twice as many homers and ten more RBIs.

Brandon Inge - way behind A-Rod with no real chance of catching him.

Pudge Rodriguez - about 130,000 votes ahead of Jorge Posada. Jason Varitek is also right behind Posada and could easily pass him up. Posada has the best offensive numbers out of the group and Varitek and Rodriguez have very, very similar numbers. This is a race that could go down to the wire.
