Tigers Roll into All Star Break
The Tiges are flying high after sweeping the Red Sox
Detroit’s bullpen woes seem to have taken a little summer break. The team has won 5 in a row and 14 of their last 20 games. The last time the bullpen blew a save was on June 26. Prior to that the previous blown save that resulted in a loss was on June 13. The team is now 18 games above .500.
Unfortunately it looks like Placido Polanco might have to sit out the All Star game with a back injury. That’s too bad as this was the first time in his career he was voted onto the team.
As far as the second half of the season goes, the team should get Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya back from the disabled list. If they both return rested and in full command of their pitches it should help to further strengthen a bullpen that has been the lone achilles heel for the team.
