How to Disappear Completely

“this isn’t happening” on Saturday

Brian over at MGoBlog decided to make this week Emo week. Since Emo sucks, I’m going to go with Radiohead’s Kid A album and the song “How to Disappear Completely”. Here are the lyrics:

That there
That’s not me
I go
Where I please
I walk through walls
I float down the Liffey
I’m not here
This isn’t happening
I’m not here
I’m not here

In a little while
I’ll be gone
The moment’s already passed
Yeah it’s gone
And I’m not here
This isn’t happening
I’m not here
I’m not here

Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes
I’m not here
This isn’t happening
I’m not here
I’m not here

In general terms that does a good job describing head coach Lloyd Carr’s performance this past Saturday. As a result the team has been kicked out of the top 25.

The University of Michigan football team’s stunning loss to Appalachian State last Saturday was followed by an unprecedented tumble in the polls.

Ranked No. 5 in the preseason by the Associated Press and USA Today, the Wolverines vanished from the top 25 of both major polls, which were released Tuesday.

“I thought about keeping them low 20’s, but then I felt, you play like that at home in the season opener, after all the expectations and (championship) talk we heard,” Minneapolis Star-Tribune sports writer and voter Chip Scoggins said. “I think it was justified to drop them out.”

That’s actually the least of Michigan’s worries. Their biggest concern is an Oregon offense that could repeat the performance Appalachian State put on last weekend. The good news is the Ducks run defense is porous, but if for some reason Mike Hart has to miss game time like he did in the Mountaineer game then it could mean trouble for Michigan. The Wolverines should be able to run on Oregon after Houston piled up 300 rushing yards but Michigan doesn’t have the greatest depth at running back behind Hart.
