Igor Grigorenko will start off the season in Grand Rapids in order to get into game shape. Mike Babcock talked a bit about getting him to understand what he needs to do to play in Detroit and the word “bike” was featured prominently. He obviously needs to get the stamina and endurance to where it needs to be before he plays significant minutes in Detroit.
He’ll likely get the callup after a 3 week conditioning stint in Grand Rapids. But it’s obvious Babcock isn’t happy about his conditioning level. As I mentioned earlier I think he has a season similar to the one Hudler had last season when he was stuck mostly on the fourth line.
