2nd Power Play Unit
The top power play unit has obviously played a large role in the Red Wings ranking 7th in the NHL with a 22.8% success rate. The second power play unit has been hit or miss, although it’s been more dangerous lately. Here is a look at the key contributors based on time on ice.

Thoughts:
-Mikael Samuelsson has the least amount of ice time so his production is best based on 60 minutes of ice time. He’s played as a forward and also on the point in games where Nik Kronwall has been injured. He should help boost production for the unit.
-Overall the production is pretty lackluster, although there have been six games missed in total between Samuelsson and Kronwall.
-Since the Phoenix game the second unit has received just about the same amount of ice time with the man advantage as the top unit. The only exceptions were the Vancouver game on October 24th and the last game against Calgary. So they’re being given decent ice time to round into shape. They responded in that final game when Jiri Hudler potted a power play goal.
