Someone over at the Red Wings Central forums requested faceoff stats so I quickly threw something together on a Google Docs spreadsheet. I put together on faceoffs against the Predators for each of the guys who took over 100 faceoffs this season and will play in the series against Nashville [ie, I didn’t include Tomas Kopecky’s stats].

There are some trends you can pick out.

-Dan Cleary has the highest win percentage but he’s only taken 15 draws.
-Pavel Datsyuk at 60% is probably the most impressive stat given he’s taken 78 faceoffs.
-Kris Draper has taken the second most draws [98] and has a very solid 56% success rate. But he’s struggled against Vernon Fiddler.
-Henrik Zetterberg has taken the most faceoffs [139] and has a 50% success rate.

-Need a big faceoff win the offensive zone? Dan Cleary is probably your guy as he’s won 88% of the faceoffs he’s taken in the opponent’s end of the ice.
-If Mike Babcock wants to win a faceoff in the defensive zone and get the puck out of the defensive zone then Pavel Datsyuk is probably the guy he wants in the faceoff circle - he wins 78% of those draws. Kris Draper is equally impressive with a 74% win ratio.
-Pavel is the best faceoff guy in the neutral zone with a 56% success rate.
