Red Wings even up preseason record
The biggest thing that has jumped out at me - other than breathing a huge sigh of relief that Nick Lidstrom looks like he’ll be alright after taking a puck to the face - is that Brett Lebda has been generating offense. Now this needs to be tempered by the knowledge he’s not playing against a full roster of NHL talent but it’s a good sign as he is one of the guys who is battling it out to avoid being traded so Detroit can get comfortably beneath the salary cap.
Lebda had a goal in last night’s 4-3 win against Boston. Mighty mite Cory Emmerton registered a goal and an assist. Detroit’s blueline really helped contribute offense as Brad Stuart closed out scoring and got the game-winner against his former team.
If you’re looking for one good sign to offset Lidstrom’s scare, it might be Tomas Kopecky being out on the ice and playing the way he’ll need to perform given Dallas Drake’s retirement. Kopecky made an impressive recovery from a knee injury late last season and he absolutely crushed
